The main risk factors for Type 2 diabetes are obesity, age, family history and a sedentary lifestyle. There is no question that as we age, our risk of developing the disease increases. However, there has been a  significant increase recently in the number of children diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes due to obesity and inactivity.
