Ingredients
* 1 Tbsp. coconut oil
* 1 onion, chopped
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 small can tomato paste
* 1 large can crushed tomatoes
* 1 large can whole tomatoes, chopped
* Salt and pepper to taste
* Pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
* ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped

Preparation
1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
3. Add minced garlic and stir.
4. Add tomato paste and cook, stirring for 1-2 minutes.
5. Add crushed and whole tomatoes.
6. Season with salt, pepper and red pepper flakes (if using).
7. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, partially covered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
8. Allow to cool slightly and puree with an immersion blender (or transfer carefully to a blender and puree) for a smooth sauce. You may leave the sauce chunkier if you prefer.
9. Add basil and readjust seasonings.
